Why Volunteer for Hawaii SHIP
Receive joy and satisfaction from helping Medicare beneficiaries find meaningful solutions that can save time and money on premiums, copays, deductibles, and penalties. I educate community and employer groups about Medicare and other health plan options. I provide answers to basic Medicare questions about enrollment, eligibility, and costs. I belong to a team of presenters who develop presentation tools and materials to explain Medicare terms.
I provide unbiased, one-on-one counseling assistance to beneficiaries, their families, caregivers, and soon-to-be retirees with their questions on Medicare. I comply with HIPAA requirements in handling personal information. I belong to a team of counselors who are trained annually on Medicare changes.
I distribute educational materials at fairs and events from a Hawaii SHIP booth. I provide answers to basic Medicare questions about enrollment, eligibility, and costs. I belong to a team of exhibitors who greet visitors with kindness and sincere interest in their Medicare questions.
I support Hawaii SHIP staff with clerical duties, including data entry, making informational packets, translating materials into other languages, and other tasks as needed. I belong to a team of helpers who use their technical and organizational skills to assist with programmatic requirements.
I transport educational brochures and newsletters about Hawaii SHIP and Medicare to sites where Medicare-eligible individuals gather, such as libraries, non-profit agencies, and community centers. I belong to a team of distributors who ensure that sites are well supplied with informational materials.
